The Duo's patented dual-handle technology in action.
THERE’S NEVER BEEN ENOUGH ROOM FOR BOTH OF YOUR HANDS ON THE HANDLE
From a school Invention Convention to landing a deal with Robert Herjavec on Shark Tank.
From walking your little one to school to strolling with your tallest friend, The Duo’s handle easily extends, retracts, and locks into place, so two people of different heights can stay dry and safe together.
With patented dual-handle technology and a spacious 54-inch canopy, The Duo has you covered.
Umbrella Innovations are a family business
What started as a father-son project between Nathaniel and his dad using a selfie stick as the primary handle mechanism, grew into a fully operational product by SHED RAIN—two family businesses coming together to create one awesome umbrella innovation.
Nathaniel began working with SHED RAIN in 2022 to fine tune his prototype. After roughly 2 years of product evolution and 4-5 prototypes, we’re proud to announce that The Duo is now in production
Congratulations to our favorite “kid-entrepreneur” Nathaniel Wellen on the opportunity of a lifetime.
THE DUO by SHED RAIN
What is The Duo?
The Duo is an award-winning (and patented) dual-handle umbrella created in collaboration with Nathaniel Wellen, a 15-year-old student from California.
Where can I buy one?
You can buy one right here. The Duo is currently in production and is set to ship Summer 2024.
Why do I need an umbrella with two handles?
The Duo was designed with two people in mind. Whether you're a couple, two friends, or a parent and child sharing an umbrella, The Duo’s handle easily extends, retracts, and locks into place, so two people of different heights can stay dry and safe together.
How did you end up on SHARK TANK?
It all started with an idea by 8-year-old Nathaniel Wellen, now 15 and living in LA with his family, to create an umbrella that would allow any two people of different heights to comfortably hold the same umbrella. Over the next seven years, the prototype not only landed him first place at regional and state competitions, but later, the Invention Convention’s national and global competitions, and ultimately, an opportunity to pitch to the sharks on ABC's Shark Tank.
